Siena
Guided tour 1: Siena, walking tour – 3 hours.
A walking tour with a good guide through the suggestive streets of Siena’s historical center will allow you to discover the history and traditions of this legendary town: starting from the Basilica of San Domenico, where Saint Catherine’s relics are still kept, you will follow the path of the pilgrims’ Road, via Francigena, to rich the building of one of the oldest European Banks, the Monte dei Paschi. Strolling in the narrow streets flanked by elegant noble palaces you will pass through the different contradas (city’s districts) and you will reach the stunning Cathedral, one of the masterpieces of the Italian Gothic. You will end the tour on the Campo Square, where the famous Palio (horse race) takes place.
A small tip: Siena lies on three hill, the main square stands on the lowest and the Cathedral on the highest. Streets in Siena go up and down. Don’t’ forget to wear comfortable shoes for the tour!
